Lisbon in Motion: The Expansion of the Red Line

Lisbon is transforming, not only in its streets, but also beneath them. The expansion of the Lisbon Metro's Red Line is underway, aiming to connect São Sebastião to Alcântara, encompassing neighborhoods such as Amoreiras, Campo de Ourique, and Infante Santo.

New Seasons and Benefits:

Amoreiras: Located at the southern end of Avenida Conselheiro Fernando de Sousa, this station will facilitate access to one of the city's most dynamic commercial areas.

Campo de Ourique: Located next to Jardim da Parada, this station will provide a direct connection to the heart of this residential and commercial neighborhood.

Infante Santo: Located on Av. Infante Santo, it will serve as a connecting point between different areas of the city.

Alcântara: This station will be crucial, establishing the link to the future Sustainable Intermodal Line (LIOS), promoting the connection to the municipality of Oeiras.

Impact on Mobility and Quality of Life:

This expansion aims to reduce travel time, promoting a higher quality of life for residents and visitors. Improving urban mobility is an important step towards making Lisbon a more accessible and sustainable city.

Challenges and Future Perspectives:

Despite the progress, the project faces challenges, including funding and licensing issues. The expansion is scheduled for completion in 2026, depending on the resolution of these obstacles.
